The Manifold Absolute Pressure(MAP) sensor measures the change of pressure in the intake manifold. The pressure of intake manifold is changed as variable engine running condition and converted into voltage and then it is monitored by the ECM.
If MAP sensor output voltage is lower than 0.1 V, the ECM judged as a fault and DTC is set.
Item
Detecting Condition
Possible cause
DTC Strategy
? Output voltage(Vmap) is monitored
? Poor connection
? Open or short to ground in MAP sensor circuit
? Defective MAP sensor
? Defective ECM
Enable Conditions
? Load value 70%
Threshold value
? Output voltage ,Vmap < 0.1V
Diagnosis Time
? Continuous
MIL On Condition
? 2 driving cycles
As much as possible, MAP signal should be compared with the TPS signal. And check whether MAP and TPS signals are increased at the same time when accelerated. During acceleration, the MAP output voltage increases; during deceleration, the MAP output voltage decreases. The given data is the signal waveform during acceleration and deceleration.
