C1260 Steering Angle Sensor Circuit-Signal

AutoHex Online Help: Hyundai TUCSON/ix35(LM/EL) 2012
Component Location
General Description

The Steering angle sensor(SAS) is installed below the clock spring and it sends messages to HECU through CAN communication line.

The SAS is used to determine turning direction and speed of the steering wheel.

The HECU uses the signals from the SAS when performing ESP-related calculations.

DTC Description

The HECU monitors the signals of the steering angle sensor and if the abnormal signal is detected or the difference between the angle speed calculated from the other sensors and the the angle speed measured from the steering angle sensor is above a certain value, this DTC is set.

Detecting Condition

Possible cause

DTC Strategy

Signal Monitoring

Incorrect calibration

Improper installation of steering angle sensor

Faulty steering angle sensor

Enable Conditions

During straight driving, If the steering wheel angle is larger than 55 degree.

When the steering wheel angle is larger than ±780 degrees.

When the difference between estimated angle and measured angle of the SAS sensor is lager than 50deg/s, if the fault condition exists uninterrupted for 1.5sec.

In case that diagnostic signal fault of SAS was happened for more than 100ms within normal voltage condition.

Fail Safe

Inhibit the ESP/DBC control and allow the ABS/EBD control.

The ESP/DBC warning lamp is activated.
